![]() One of the oldest sayings in Feng Shui is "never sit with your back to the door." This is actually common sense because you can't see who is coming. In Chinese medicine, surprise causes your energy to scatter and constantly being surprised is detrimental to your health. This is actually a primal instinct - watch men in particular at restaurants get uncomfortable when seated that way. Women are less aware of this need unless they have babies and then they too watch everyone coming their baby's way! So, turn your desk another direction if you can or hang a mirror so you can see who is coming. Another tip is to get the biggest desk you can and a chair with a high back. These are obvious signs of power. But in addition, you are supposed to make sure that the chairs of your visitors have a low back and no arms. This dates back to the time when only the Emperor sat in a chair with arms, above his subordinates on the floor. |
